Why I Chose Pediatrics

“There’s no better feeling than turning a child’s tears into a smile. I became a pediatrician because I love being part of a family’s journey from day one.”

Questions About Teen & Adolescent Care

Frequently Asked Parent Questions

Do you see teenagers and adolescents?

Yes! WonderKidz Pediatrics provides care for children and adolescents from birth through age 18. Our pediatricians are experienced in the unique health needs of teenagers.

What teen health services do you offer?

We provide annual physicals, sports physicals, mental health screenings, acne treatment, nutrition counseling, college vaccinations, reproductive health education, and management of chronic conditions like ADHD.

Do you offer mental health support for teens?

Yes. Our pediatricians screen for depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns at annual visits. We provide initial support and referrals to adolescent mental health specialists when needed.

Can teens come to appointments on their own?

Florida law allows minors to consent to certain types of healthcare. For routine visits, we prefer a parent or guardian to be present, but we can discuss specific situations with your family.

What vaccinations do teenagers need?

Teens typically need HPV vaccine, meningococcal vaccines (MenACWY and MenB), Tdap booster, and annual flu shots. We ensure your teen is up to date on all recommended immunizations.

Do you offer telehealth or virtual visits?

Yes, we offer telehealth appointments for non-emergency concerns such as follow-up visits, minor illnesses, behavioral questions, medication management, and general parenting advice. Call our office to schedule a convenient virtual visit.

What is your sick visit policy?

We reserve same-day appointments for sick children every day. Please call our office as early as possible in the morning to secure a same-day slot. For urgent concerns after hours, we have an on-call physician available 24/7.

How often should my child have well-child check-ups?

Well-child visits are recommended frequently in the first 2 years: at 3-5 days, 1 month, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 24 months. After age 2, annual check-ups are recommended to monitor growth, development, and ensure vaccinations stay current.

What is your cancellation policy?

We kindly ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. This allows us to offer the time slot to another family in need. Repeated no-shows may affect your ability to schedule future appointments.

How can I reach the doctor after hours?

For after-hours medical concerns, call our main office number at (954) 799-4086 and you'll be connected with our answering service who will page our on-call pediatrician. For life-threatening emergencies, always call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

What should I bring to my child's first appointment?

Please bring your child's insurance card, any previous medical records, immunization history, a list of current medications, and a photo ID. If your child is a newborn, bring hospital discharge papers and birth records as well.

Do you accept my insurance?

We accept most major insurance plans including Florida Blue, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Humana, and Medicaid. Please call our office at (954) 799-4086 to verify your specific plan is accepted.
